November Book Report
Non-Fiction: Literature that is not fictional, real.
Directions: Choose a non-fiction book on a topic of your choice and read your book. Your book report is going to be a bag of chips. On the front of your bag write the title, author, illustrator, and draw a picture about the TOPIC of your book. On the back of your bag write a SUMMARY of the book. Remember when writing a summary, the summary should be shorter than the book. It should also tell the MAIN IDEA and the MOST IMPORTANT DETAILS from the book. Inside the bag write one fact about your topic on each potato chip. Cut out your chips and place them in your bag.

Mystery: Fiction dealing with the solution of a crime or the unraveling of secrets.
Directions: Have your child select a mystery book that he/she has not read before. I have
included a list of suggestions, but your child is free to choose any book that you feel is appropriate
within the genre.
Instructions for Poster: Choose a character from the book you read for your poster. The character
you pick is the person who will be the “Wanted” person on your poster. It doesn’t have to be a crime
that the character committed, but it could be some kind of fault, inadequacy, failing, or shortcoming.

Directions: Have your child select a realistic fiction book that he/she has not read before. Complete the Map Action worksheet.

Directions: Choose a fantasy book that he/she has never read before. Summarize the story by creating a comic strip. The comic strip should contain the following:
- The title of your book and author.
- All 8 story board squares should be used.
- There should be a clear beginning, middle, and end that summarizes the story. If you would like to make the comic strip longer, that is fine.
- All dialogue should be in a dialogue bubble.
- All narration should be in a square.
- Illustrations should be colored neatly, be interesting, and should match the dialogue and narrations.
